A kindergarten celebration treat!

When school is done Mrs. Hager rings the kids outside and they line up and wait for Mom or Dad to pick them up.  Dave is near the front of the line, I think he was messing with his lunch box.
Of course you need to have a treat after the first day of school, so we were off to Maggie Moo's, they have lactose free ice cream.  Dave got Vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles and marshmallows to celebrate a great first day in Kindergarten.
The proud Kindergartner enjoy his ice cream!!

George stayed behind and waited patently for Dave to come home from Kindergarten!

Off to Kindergarten!!

First day of Kindergarten!!!
A special good luck card from Nan.
A good luck pet from Hallie Dog.
And a thumbs up that he is totally ready for Kindergarten.  He did a great job, not one tear shed, a quick hug in the hall and he was off to Kindergarten!!  He made a new little friend right away, Haleigh Babli, yep fireman Mario's niece!!  And they sit right next to each other.  So they walked in the room together to find their seats and to check out the turtle.  It's going to be a good year!

All packed and ready to go!

Backpack
by Shelley Plum
On my back a pack I carry
In it, all my treasures.
It's what I need
So I can be
One class higher!
Crayons, ruler, scissors too,
And yes a little Elmer's glue
Paper, pencils, in my bag...
Wonder what made mom so sad?
Trapper keeper, nice and neat
Will it really stay this clean?
On my back a pack I carry
In it, all my treasures!
Today I'll be
Just watch and see
One class higher!

First homework assignment.

When were at kindergarten orientation Dave received his first homework assignment.
He had to color a train and answer a few questions about himself to share with the class.
Concentrating very hard to get it just right.

Phillies Day at Elmwood Park Zoo

Check out the Philly Phanactic hanging out with the porcupine.
The hawk getting ready to take flight.
The fox was out enjoying the morning sun.
And the wolf was taking a snooze in the shade.
The little owl also got a Philly Phanatic to enjoy for the day.
I think this one duck has been hanging out with the flamingos for a bit too long.

Yard Sale Fun

Today, LeeAnne was nice enough to let us bring a few, or a lot, of our things over to her yard sale.  We made out GREAT!!  Above, Josh is showing Dave his old Transformers and other toys that were his as a kid.  As you can guess we came home with a few new Transformers to add to his collection.  Thanks Josh for entertaining Dave for some of the afternoon, he had a great time with you.  And thank you LeeAnne for letting us sell some of our things at your sale.

Another Mama Cheaps Review!!

Check out our review here on the Mama Cheaps site!!  Look under her review heading to see it!!

thats awesome time book for kids
This book was reviewed for us by our site contributor Jenny and her son David.  Thanks to both of them!
Our new product to review this week from Time for Kids: That’s Awesome! The World’s Most Amazing Facts and Records! The book is an off shoot of the Time Magazine for Kids publications.  The book is set up like a Guinness Book of World Records publication only it is filled with interesting facts that even young kids can understand and relate to.
This was a huge hit with our 5 year old son David.  It was probably a hit because he is a bit of a “fact fanatic.”  He really enjoys asking everyone if they know the same facts that he does no matter how obscure they may be.  The book is broken down into different sections.
You can learn facts about everything from facts about the tallest buildings and smallest circus to the most expensive dog and baseball cards to historic space explorers and UFO’s.  The section that David found most interesting was the section on animals, most specifically, the giant tortoise.   Did you know that “the giant tortoise would need five hours to go one mile?” “That’s a rate of 1/5th of a mile per hour!”
If you ever run into David reading this book he’ll probably ask you if you knew that fact.  That’s Awesome! had wonderful large and detailed pictures that kept him very interested.   I am confident that as David progresses into his elementary school years, this book will come in very handy for  use in reports and such. This book is great; very educational and interesting!
Some of the topics in this book:
  • The world’s biggest and smallest
  • Most expensive cars, toys, and more
  • Biggest volcanic eruptions
  • Biggest sports upsets, longest games
  • Longest space walks, largest and smallest stars
  • Highest and lowest places on earth and beyond
  • And much more, including unusual museums extreme weather, and unexplained mysteries
This book is 208 pages long and it will release on 10/5/10.
Pre-Order: You can pre-order That’s Awesome! The World’s Most Amazing Facts and Records! now on Amazon and receive it in plenty of time for holiday gift giving!

Kindergarten Orientation!

Tonight was Kindergarten Orientation for the Am class at Seylar Elementary.

Entering his new school for the first time!  The highlight of the whole night was that his class has a pet
. . . TURTLE!!  I know exactly where my kid will be during independent time in the morning, watching the class turtle, Twinkles.  Along with Twinkles the turtle, the class has fish, a frog, and cocoons, soon to be butterflies.  Dave was great he was right up there with all the other kids and did not even hesitate once when the kids went to library while the parents stayed behind to learn more about the upcoming year.
Tonight Dave got his name tag that he will be wearing the first few weeks of school.  A little book bag, through out the year he will get new letter books to add to his folder.  A red folder to bring home his project from school and to send back important papers in.  And we got a parent's survival kit for the first day of kindergarten.  I don't think I'll need it, Dave is ready to go!!!

Remember our Mama Cheaps review??

Well tonight is your last night to enter on her site to win of the great kits we reviewed.  So head over to her Mama Cheaps for your chance to win!

Dog Days of Summer

Today, we went to Byer's Choice with Benjamin and Christine for their Dog Days of Summer craft.  Above the boys are checking out Santa's workshop.
And there's the big guy himself!
Up next was to paint their very own dog.
Concentrating very hard to paint his dog.
Checking out Byer's Choice gardens.

The boys were hoping for fish, but none today.
What do you think of Dave's dog?  I think he's great!

Right now, my Mom is boarding a plane, ohh how I wish I was with her . . .

Strawberries with Cheesecake Cream, YUM!

We had a fabulous night with Steph and Chris!  Steph and I made this wonderful dessert for the boys.

2 teaspoons butter, melted
1/2 cup soft cream cheese (from 8-oz tub)
6 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 teaspoon orange-flavored liqueur, if desired
1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced (3 cups)

2. In  large bowl, beat remaining ingredients except strawberries with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.

3. Divide strawberries among 4 large wine glasses or individual dessert dishes.  Top each with about 1/4 cup cream cheese mixture; sprinkle each with 2 tablespoons crumbs.

Perkasie Old Town's Car Show

Dave and Pies checking out the model cars.
Pies was nice enough to get Dave tickets to win one of the cars.
Choosing just the right cars to try to win.

Checking out the inside of a Dodge Charger.
And the inside of it.  Can you tell a Dodge Charger is Dave's favorite car?

And last thing to check out are the trophies that Pies will help to hand out later in the night.
