So the big snow storm that was predicted hit us a bit earlier than the forecasters predicted!!
At about 9 AM we started to see the snow laying on the on ground. How do you entertain a 6 year old and 6 month old in a unusual October snow storm? Well first you do some Halloween word searches and mazes.
Then we sent the Dog out to check on the snow.
We had some quality time together!!
"I love my brother!!"
Dave explained to Sarah what snow was all about.
"Sounds like a lot of fun Dave!!"
We then baked some Halloween cookies!
Sarah even helped out a bit.
And we sent the dog out again to check on how deep the snow was getting.
We watched as our front tree's branches got closer and closer to the ground.
And as the back tree split. How sad!
And sent the Dog out one last time to check on the snow looks like we have a couple of inches.
At this point we lost power at about 1:00 PM, so we packed myself and the kids up and headed to Nana and Pop's for the night. Chris had to work and with the amount of power outages PP&L was giving us an estimated time for our power to be back was about 8 hours away. So we thought that it was best to spend the night at Nana and Pop's so in the event that they lost power too, we would at least have the fireplace to keep us warm.
So when we got there Dave played with Penny for a bit.
We watched for Nan to come home from work to make sure that she didn't get stuck in the driveway as the trees were bending over.
Only Nan would bring snow into the house!!
Dave and Nan making a snowman for Sarah!
Almost done.
"Look Sarah a snowman!"
"That's pretty cool, Dave!"
"Ooh, I just can't believe this much snow in October!!"
"Let me see him."
"He's funny!"
"Give me that carrot!"
After playing in the snow we all took showers to warm up.
And then Nan and Dave made a snowstorm cake!
The chef at work!
The completed cake!!
Thanks Nan and Pop for letting us spend the night!
