Cutting Down Our Tree.
Dave looked on as Pop assessed how to take the tree down that was damaged in the snow storm.
Pop and Chris tying on the rope.
Sarah and Dog watched the whole production from the kitchen door.
Dave and Chris are ready to pull the tree over.
Pop cutting the tree down.
Dave and Chris pulling it over.
Here it comes!
Dave was a big help and cleaned up all the branches.
Of course there was some marching and singing involved in cleaning up the branches, because that is how everyone cleans up a tree with a little song!
Sarah still watching the whole production!
Pop cutting up the tree.
Dave even carried some of the bigger pieces!
All three men at work!!
Thanks Pop, for helping us cut down the tree!

The Snow Damage!
Sadly, we lost our tree in the backyard.
But the tree in the front yard survived!!
And with the power being out for several hours we did have to clean out the fridge. The Dog was looking for handouts, but it would not even be good for he to eat the lunchmeat!

SNOW?!
So the big snow storm that was predicted hit us a bit earlier than the forecasters predicted!!
At about 9 AM we started to see the snow laying on the on ground. How do you entertain a 6 year old and 6 month old in a unusual October snow storm? Well first you do some Halloween word searches and mazes.
Then we sent the Dog out to check on the snow.
We had some quality time together!!
"I love my brother!!"
Dave explained to Sarah what snow was all about.
"Sounds like a lot of fun Dave!!"
We then baked some Halloween cookies!
Sarah even helped out a bit.
And we sent the dog out again to check on how deep the snow was getting.
We watched as our front tree's branches got closer and closer to the ground.
And as the back tree split. How sad!
And sent the Dog out one last time to check on the snow looks like we have a couple of inches.
At this point we lost power at about 1:00 PM, so we packed myself and the kids up and headed to Nana and Pop's for the night. Chris had to work and with the amount of power outages PP&L was giving us an estimated time for our power to be back was about 8 hours away. So we thought that it was best to spend the night at Nana and Pop's so in the event that they lost power too, we would at least have the fireplace to keep us warm.
So when we got there Dave played with Penny for a bit.
We watched for Nan to come home from work to make sure that she didn't get stuck in the driveway as the trees were bending over.
Only Nan would bring snow into the house!!
Dave and Nan making a snowman for Sarah!
Almost done.
"Look Sarah a snowman!"
"That's pretty cool, Dave!"
"Ooh, I just can't believe this much snow in October!!"
"Let me see him."
"He's funny!"
"Give me that carrot!"
After playing in the snow we all took showers to warm up.
And then Nan and Dave made a snowstorm cake!
The chef at work!
The completed cake!!
Thanks Nan and Pop for letting us spend the night!
