Easter at Nan and Pop's!

We headed over to Nan and Pop's for Easter lunch.  This year we had a few extra special guests, Jess, Em, and Abby joined us for lunch and and easter egg hunt afterwards.
Dave checking out his Easter basket from Nan and Pop.

And Sarah taking a look at what was in her basket from Nan and Pop.

Sarah got huge bunny ears in her basket!
After we enjoyed a nice Easter lunch together, Nan set up an Easter Egg hunt for all the kids!
Dave and Sarah finding some eggs.
Sarah found one hidden under the table!
Abby and Em finding some hiding on the sofa!
After all the eggs were found, they opened them up.  Some of the eggs had fruit snacks or goldfish in them.  Others had a number, if you got an egg with a number you got to pick a prize out of the basket with that number on it.  Above Dave and Emily were picking their prizes.

Thanks Nan and Pop for a fun Easter, and thank you to Jess, Em, and Abby for joining us this year!

The Easter Bunny was Here!

Sarah was the first one to find an egg!
But then she quickly found her basket and that was much more interesting!
 Dave finding his eggs!
 One was up pretty high!
Sarah still looking at her basket.
Once Sarah figured out there there was stuff IN the eggs then she was off to hunt for eggs.
 Finding some eggs.
Dave found all his eggs so he started to check out what was in in his basket.

And of course Sarah wanted to open everything that was in her basket right away!

Easter Morning!

Chris was supposed to get off at 2Am, but he ended up getting called back into and worked from 2 pm to 5 Am, Easter Morning.  So I had to hold the kids off as long as I could so that Chris could see them get their Easter treats.  So we did a little Easter coloring!

Of course Pigs had to help with coloring!
Their finished Easter pictures!

Bird Watching!

Dave called us today to see if we wanted to tag along to do some bird watching at Peace Valley for the boys to earn their bird watching badge fro scouts.  Sadly, Chris was working so I offered to drop dAve off and come back and get him.  Dave so "No, bring Sarah with a I'll put her in the pack and we will going hiking, she will LOVE it!"  Boy was Dave right, Sarah had a ball!
 Hiking buddies!
 And they are off.
Crossing over the little stream to see...
The Pooh tree, Dave Thought Sarah would like to see it!

Taking a look at the whole tree.
And going inside the Pooh tree.
 Coming back across the stream.
Counting the rings of this tree to see how old it was.
Look who we found out sunning himself.
The boys took a short break to skip a few stones.

There were a bunch of trees down all over the paths from Hurricane Sandy.
Dave and Sarah taking a quick rest.
Climbing over a few more trees.
This time the boys decided to throw boulders!

Going under this one was easier then going over!
Some more trees to climb over.
After we hiked for about an hour, the kids wanted to go into the Nature Center.
Using the binoculars at the Peace Valley Nature Center to spot some birds.  They saw a few cardinals, a woodpecker and some robins.
The boys were brave and stuck their hands int he mystery boxes!
Dave taught them about the solar panels that Peace Valley uses to power the Nature Center.
Then off the bird blind.  Where the spotted a few more birds.
Adn can you see who that is sitting on the log int he pond?!
Taking another little hike to behind the bird blind.
Where they could see the turtles a bit closer and a few ducks.
Thank you Dave for taking Sarah on a great hike, she loved it.  And she was so tired from all the fresh air, she was looking for bed at 4 pm!
