R and J Farm Market

Since, Dave and I have been battling a cold for the past few days, we thought that we would head out for a little bit of fresh air! So we went to R and J Farm Market, on Allentown Road. They have a huge corn maze and we thought that Dave would really enjoy taking a a try at one. He has been asking to do a corn maze since the new Curious George show has one episode where George is in a corn maze race! So we took our little monkey to a corn maze. Here he is just before starting the maze, he thought he should sit for a few minutes to save up some energy in case we got lost. And off he goes! Chris giving Dave a little bit of help so that he doesn't get stuck at a dead end.This is what the maze looked like, and yes Dave did walk the entire 6-acre maze!Then we stopped to choose a few pumpkins. Aren't these cinderella pumpkins cool?!"Daddy, this one look just like a goose!! We need to take this one home.""Yes this one! I'm going to paint it to look like a bird.""Look this one is just my size!"

Philadelphia Zoo

Yesterday, Chris and I took Dave and Nan, my mom, to the Philadelphia zoo! Nan had not been to the Philly Zoo for 24 years, so she was very excited to go with Dave. Of course, I bet you can guess what we had to see first!!! Dave watching his favorite animals!He could spend hours watching these guys.Then it was off to find more turtles.These guys are a bit smaller than the huge ones that are outside.And a giant alligator snapping turtle. I think this is one of Dave's favorites.Dave learning to build an alligator nest.You would think that all the Philly Zoo owns, according to Dave, are turtles. Once we could pull Dave away from the turtles it was off to see the big cats.These big cats are only 18 months old. The trainer was trying to move them from one exhibit to another. She was bribing them with some sugar water.Then we headed to see Chris's favorite, the sloth.And this little guy was my favorite.One of the newest members of the zoo.Nan was actually playing with this penguin. He was following her shadow!Looks like the two of them had a lot of fun. After seeing every animal at the zoo we headed home.When we got home Dave had to check out Nan's wild animals.

Mad Science Halloween Event

Last night Nan, Jenn and I took Dave to the Mad Science Halloween Event, which is part of Perkasie's Family Fridays. Perkasie is holding a family event once a month on a Friday during the fall and winter. Below Dave is picking the snack that he wants to eat while watching the scientist.

The mad scientist did a little bit of everything, here he is trying to fit an egg into a beaker. He peeled a hard boiled egg and put a piece of burning paper in the beaker and the egg on top and in goes the egg as the fire is trying to suck more air in. The kids really enjoyed it!

Here he is melting a styrofoam witch with acetone. He then did some experiments with dry smoke, but the pictures didn't turn out the well of those, you couldn't really see the smoke. All in all Dave had a great night learning some facts about science.

Open House at Perkasie Fire Department

Tonight, Dave, Pies and I went to the Perkasie Fire Department's open house for National Fire Prevention Week. They had so many things happening for the kids. Dave had a great time, but he did however say that he wished Silverdale's Fireman Mario was at the event! Of course, one of the first things that Dave had to do was sit in a firetruck!
Here Dave is deciding that it is not good idea to wear a helmet if you are going to look at the tall ladders! It kept falling off his head, so we ended up carrying it for most of the night.Next Dave wanted to check out what this fireman had...He had a heat sensor. It shows you were heat is located. He had Dave touch the wall and then come back to the sensor and you could see his hand print in the sensor. This was really cool to Dave!!! He thinks that he should have one of these at home, ha ha.Next Dave wanted to use the pulleys on the big ladder truck to lift some heavy hoses hooked to the other end. He pulled as hard as he could and he got them off the ground a little bit. And while we were there who did we bump into? Dave's best friend Caleb. Here the boys are deciding what they would like to do next. They decided to check out the ambulance. Dave asked the EMT if Bob was with tonight, but he wasn't working till later tonight. Then it was off to the army trucks, here Dave is waiting for Caleb to get in to be the co-pilot seat.Then it was off to the best part of the night!!! They got to be real firemen and squirt the hose to put out a "house fire"!!!! Dave was in heaven!Little Noah cheering the boys on to put out the fire, I think he can't wait to be able to join the older boys next year!

Indian Valley Country Club Restaurant Festival

Last night, mom and I went to the Indian Valley Country Club's Restaurant Festival. The local public can purchase tickets for $35 a piece, which the money is then donated to a local charity. The public then will visit every table of local restaurants to sample their food. Here Mom is standing with our table.

We offered pumpkin creme tea or orange cranberry spice tea. pictured below is our chocolate hazelnut mousse and peanut butter mousse.

And on our three tiered tray last night we had on the top white chocolate tarts, in the middle shortbread cookies and on the bottom layer autumn acorns.
