The Home Depot Kid's Workshop

Today, I took Dave to the kid's workshop at the home depot. It's really for children 5 and older, but since today's project was a fire truck I figured that we would check it out. Dave loved helping to build the fire truck. He handed me the pieces when I needed them, although I did the actual building part, he really did have a great time!! He even got his own Home Depot apron. The Home Depot does a free kid's workshop every month. And at each event when you complete the project you get a new pin to add to your apron. So looks like we might head to the Home Depot once a month for a building project.

Chuck E. Cheese

Dave was feeling a little rambunctious last Thursday since the weather was damp and dreary. So I suggested that we spend the day at Chuck E. Cheese's. He thought that was a great idea since he could play inside and since he knows the commercial....Chuck E. Cheese's--where a kid can be a kid! Here he is after just walking in the door. I think he was a bit overwhelmed and did not know which thing he wanted to try first."Maybe I'll start here dad" he said after he found this big digger. Dave was amazed that Chuck E. Cheese was able to fit a digger in the play room. Dave watched this little boy intently for about three seconds before he found the next amazing thing."Look daddy, I'm a fireman!" he said after he found this game. The game simulated being a real fireman which, if you have been reading this blog for any period of time, you should know Dave adores firemen. We played this game several times that day. Dave really enjoyed putting out the fires and saving the people."What's this thing daddy?" Dave did not quite understand the concept of playing some games to win tickets that he could then redeem for prizes. Once I showed him the prizes he could win with his tickets Dave was all about playing for tickets. Dave won a total of 140 tickets that day and ended up coming home with the prize he couldn't live without, an authentic Buzz Lightyear ray gun that makes all sorts of cool sounds.Here is Dave driving a monster truck. He thought it looked like alot of fun until he started to drive it. The truck moved up and down and tipped forward and backward. Dave did not like the way it moved and decided that from this day forward he would not pursue a career as a monster truck driver and that he liked the idea of being a fireman even more. (Much to the delight of his parents)Dave finished up the day taking a ride on a simulated roller coaster. The seat actually moved to the actions on the screen which looked like alot of fun. When the ride was over Dave gave me this big smile and told me that he had fun there. I told Dave that we could all come back again sometime in the future which made him even more happy.

Lil'kickers Day 3

Today, at Dave's Lil'kickers class the kids had to do an obstacle course. Here are a few pictures of Dave trying the course.

At the end of the course they had to score a goal.
And another great part about practice today, they got to use the parachute!!!

The Big Winner!

When we were at the Peace Valley Park Family and Friends day on Sunday, Dave participated in the scavenger hunt, and he was the big winner! He won an owl themed gift basket for answering all of the questions correctly. He also won a kitten puppet, a Napa truck, and a great turtle book in the children's raffle. What a lucky boy!!
