Photo shoot and National Night Out
I have to do a little bit of bragging and say that Dave was a great little boy today!! Today Montgomery Magazine came and photographed the tea room to be the cover story for their holiday issue. The photographer took pictures for five hours and Dave entertained himself the whole time. He was just the perfect little boy so that I was able to help my mom get everything set to look like Christmas in the tea room. Mom and Jordan putting the finishing touches on the food to be photographed.
Mom trying to steam a wrinkle out of lace using a shark floor cleaner. Oh the things you will do for a magazine cover.

National Night Out in Franconia!!

One of our favorite summertime actives is National Night Out in Franconia. The township has a wonderfully organized night full of fire trucks, police cars, the MedEvac helicopter, sponsors and food. It is a great night out and all is free to the public. The event is held every second Tuesday in August at the township park.
Dave and Nan checking out the ambulance.

This year the Telford dive team was at the park and we got to learn about all the equipment that they use. This is a dive helmet that has a camera attached so that the diver can be in full contact with the surface to let them know what is going on.

Franconia's cool D.A.R.E. car. It is fully loaded!

And of course Dave made his way to the fire trucks!

Marlyland Zoo at Baltimore
On Sunday we ate lunch at the Cheesecake Factory then headed to the Maryland Zoo at Baltimore. Here is just a sampling the animals that we saw! Some sleeping rhinos.
Some giraffes.
Dave practicing to sit on a saddle. He said that he wanted to practice so that he can ride Snowball next time we go to the barn to see Jess's horses.

A great sleeping polar bear.

Dave's favorite animal at the zoo...and quite possibly his favorite animal of all time.

And the best part of the zoo...getting to be an actual turtle!!!!!!!!

Port Discovery
Saturday night we ate dinner at Five Guys Burgers. It wasn't exactly what we expected and we were somewhat disappointed. We then headed to Port Discovery Children's Museum. Dave had a ball running around and playing. His favorite part was the water room. I didn't dare take the camera out of the bag. It was very wet, but lots of fun!!
Dave playing a drum.
Practicing to be a train conductor.
Our little robot.
Baltimore Aquarium

The second day of our vacation we got up and ate breakfast in the hotel before heading to the National Aquarium! Dave loved looking at all the fish. Of course no trip to an aquarium or zoo is complete without Dave having to find every turtle. The pictures are a little limited because it was a rather crowed day.

Dave had a great time watching the dolphin show. He loved to watch them jump out of the water!

Maryland Science Center
The first night we ate at P.F. Changs, a really good chinese restaurant, then headed to the Maryland Science Center. Dave loved seeing the dinosaurs and doing some of the hands-on experiments.

Baltimore, Maryland
We left Friday (August 1st) for a family vacation to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. We stopped on the way down at the Rainforest Cafe for lunch. Dave loved watching the mechanical animals as they moved just like real rainforest animals. The staff they warned us about the upcoming thunderstorms that roll through every half hour. After we ate lunch we were back on the road for about another 20 minutes to get to our hotel. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency right in the Inner Harbor. If you ask Dave about his favorite part of the vacation he will gladly answer you with "riding the glass elevator." The elevator begins its upward journey on inside of the hotel in the main lobby. After about six floors the elevator is on the outside of the building. From the elevator you can see a fantastic view of the harbor as you are riding up to your room. Dave loved that we were on the very top floor of the hotel. Here are a few of the sites that we saw in the Inner Harbor.

A thunderstorm rolling in on Saturday night. As luck would have it we got caught in the storm and got a little wet running back to our hotel room.
